First-launch instructions
The Mac build is signed and notarized by Apple — it opens like any other app. The Windows and Linux builds are unsigned, so each asks for one extra confirmation the first time: dismiss SmartScreen on Windows, or mark the AppImage executable on Linux.
macOS
- 1. Open the .dmg and drag Questquill to Applications.
- 2. Double-click to launch. That's it — signed & notarized (Developer ID: Fictionate Me, Inc.).
- Downloaded an older build that macOS blocks? Grab the current .dmg above — signed builds replace the old workaround entirely.
Windows
- 1. Run the Setup.exe installer.
- 2. On the SmartScreen prompt, click More info → Run anyway.
- 3. Follow the installer; launch from the Start menu.
Linux
- 1. Mark the .AppImage executable:
chmod +x Questquill-*.AppImage - 2. Double-click it (or run it from a terminal). No install needed.
- Won't launch? Install FUSE (sudo apt install libfuse2) or run with --appimage-extract-and-run.
- Prefer a native package? .deb (Debian/Ubuntu: sudo apt install ./Questquill-*.deb) or .rpm (Fedora/RHEL/openSUSE: sudo dnf install ./Questquill-*.rpm).
System requirements: macOS 11+ (Apple Silicon or Intel) · Windows 10/11 (64-bit) · Linux x86-64 / glibc (Ubuntu 20.04+, Fedora 39+, or equivalent; AppImage needs FUSE/libfuse2). Your words always export as plain files — the desktop app is a convenience, never a lock-in.
