Privacy Policy

Plain-language summary. A full legal review is scheduled before general availability; the substance below reflects how Questquill actually handles your work today.

Your work stays yours

Questquill is local-first. Your manuscript lives on your device first and syncs to your private cloud storage only so you can pick up on another machine. We do not read, train on, sell, or share the contents of your books.

What we collect

Account basics (email, and a display name if you provide one), subscription status via our payment processor, and product analytics covering which pages load and whether sign-up completed — never the text you write.

Analytics, named

Two tools measure traffic here, and both are third parties that receive your IP address and the pages you visit:

Matomo (Matomo Cloud, operated by InnoCraft) — our primary analytics.
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — property G-Z7RDTCG9K2 for Questquill, plus G-YRWJSYB3DY, the property belonging to Fictionate.me, the parent site Questquill is hosted under. Traffic here is therefore visible in that shared property too.

We do not run advertising, we have no ad pixels, and we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising. Analytics tells us which features get used; that is all it is for.

Cookies

Matomo sets _pk_id and _pk_ses to recognize a returning browser and group page views into one visit. Google Analytics sets _ga and a _ga_* cookie per property for the same purpose. Stripe sets its own cookies during checkout for fraud prevention. Your sign-in session is kept in a strictly necessary cookie of ours.

You can block or clear all of these in your browser without losing access to Questquill — you will simply be signed out. To opt out of Google Analytics everywhere, Google publishes a browser add-on. We honor Global Privacy Control as an opt-out signal; we do not act on the older “Do Not Track” header.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by their own privacy policy.

AI features

AI assistance is opt-in and runs only on the text you explicitly send to it. Prompts are used to generate your result and are not used to train third-party models beyond what is required to return that result.

Deleting your data

Export a full plain-file backup of everything at any time, and request deletion of your account and cloud copies by emailing info@quill.fictionate.me. Local copies remain on your device until you remove them.
